Kerr takes Open title

With solid play down the stretch while her competitors faded, Cristie Kerr captured the 2007 Women's U.S. Open title. She closed with a one-under 70 for a five-under 279 total. The victory was Kerr's first major. Lorena Ochoa and Angela Park finished in second two back.

 
 
 
Cabrera wins the U.S. Open

On the strength of a one-under 69 on Sunday, Argentina's Angel Cabrera won the 107th U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont CC. Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods contended down the stretch but finished a stroke back, at six-over-par 286. Cabrera becomes the second Argentine to win one of golf's majors, following Roberto De Vicenzo's 1967 British Open triumph. Sweden's Niclas Fasth finished in fourth place, while David Toms and Bubba Watson tied for fifth. View round 4 photo highlights.

 
 
 
LPGA Champ Pettersen

With the memory of Kraft Nabisco still fresh in her mind, Suzann Pettersen didn't let this one get away. She won her first major capturing the McDonald's LPGA Championship with a one-stroke victory over Karrie Webb. She made four birdies on the back nine enroute to a final round 67 and a 14-under 274 total. Michelle Wie finished last of the 84 players who made the cut.
